Fall Out Boy: The Mania Tour 2018

Fall_Out_Boy_The_Mania_Tour_2018

FINALLY! 10 years and 5 months later, I finally saw them perform last night. Aaaah! I was so happy!

Fall_Out_Boy_The_Mania_Tour_2018

I couldn't afford to see them perform in PH back in 2007 because I was living on student allowance c/o my parents. I remember Vinch, one of my closest friends, tried to make me feel better by saying, "Don't worry, tayo na pupunta sa kanila next time."

Fall_Out_Boy_The_Mania_Tour_2018

Apparently, apart from purchasing a ticket, I didn't need to do anything else because they flew here for their tour! AAAAAH!

Group photo!
Not only did I tick something off in my list last night, I also did something for the first time -- go and see a concert alone. Never thought I would ever do this but you know what they say, never say never.

Fall_Out_Boy_The_Mania_Tour_2018

Actually, I had been dilly-dallying if I should just go see them on my own. Of course, there was no way I would miss this concert. However, for safety reasons, I thought it's better if I go with a friend, just in case it gets so crazy. And it's better to be singing and dancing with a friend, too. Unfortunately, none of my friends here are fans and my brother (who is my last resort) had evening classes sooo weeks before the show, I said, "Screw it, I'll go see them on my own."

Fall_Out_Boy_The_Mania_Tour_2018

And thank goodness, I did! Last night was great. You guys were amazing! Thank you. And going solo was not so bad at all!

(I chose to post their old hits because, ya know, nostalgia. Also, I apologize if you hear my voice on the background - I am aware I do not sound pretty. I tried to pick the parts with "less singing" though! MORE VIDEOS HERE.)

Travel Journal: Singapore Day 1

Singapore_2017_Day1

I wanted to try travel journalling during this trip but I was not that successful. It was hard to find time to sit and write my thoughts down because of jam-packed days and long nights during my trip. Hence, I wrote most of the entries in retrospect. I, however, omitted some details from my actual journal to be "internet-friendly."

06 September 2017, 2:48 PM

Singapore_2017_Day1

It has been a while since I went on a birthday trip. I've been meaning to go to Singapore since last year. Disregarding the unbelievable humidity and heat, I heard a lot of good things about their selection of food there and I am always, and will always be, up for good food. I also planned to attend Ultra Music Festival with my brother and promised a friend that I would visit her. However, the trip did not push through...

But now, I am currently inside the plane and flying somewhere over the ocean (or I might still be somewhere in Australia, I think.) en route to Singapore! Yay! I just finished my lunch (braised beef with quail egg and mushroom) and I am about to go back into reading this book that I brought with me. I am nearly finished but, let's be honest here, 10 more words or so and I'm out. I sleep like a baby inside a plane. Haha! Anyway, I'll fill in more details after I land and meet Chai at the airport.

07 September 2017, almost 4:30 AM

Singapore_2017_Day1
Let's all take a moment of silence and appreciate this wonderful effort -- She made me a sign!

Chai picked me up at the airport. She had the whole thing set up from making this sign to taking a video footage as soon as I walked past the immigration. It wasn't the original sign though. I believe it was supposed to be bigger than this but she forgot to bring it with her to the office. She had to improvise instead. She re-did it while she was on a meeting, which explains the use of the back side of this random office document and the folder. Haha! Because it was already a bit late, we had dinner at one of the restaurants (Swensen's) in the airport. I ordered the Black Pepper Seafood Pasta for my main and a scoop of mint and a scoop of coffee ice cream. Of course, we got home really late as we cannot seem to stop talking (as usual) over dinner.

Thanks, Chai for the sign, for picking me up at the airport and for dinner.

Now, I should get some sleep because I have to wake up in 2.5 hours! AAACCCCKKK.

07 September 2017, few hours later

The first person that I met that day: Kla!

Singapore_2017_Day1

When I sent her my proposed itinerary and plans for this trip, I asked her if it was alright if we could meet early so we can have breakfast and we can spend more time together. She was happy to do so. That morning, she was also nice enough to meet me at the train station near where I was currently staying. But I was late for an hour! I wasn't able to fully unpack the night before because Chai's housemates were already asleep. I didn't want to cause unnecessary noise because of my unpacking. However, Chai and I spent 4 more hours talking instead. Few hours later, Chai woke me up earlier than scheduled so I can unpack the rest of my stuff that morning. I sent Kla a message to ask her if we can push back a bit our scheduled time to meet. I wasn't able to read Kla's message or answer her calls beforehand as my phone went dead and I was in a rush getting ready. Chai also wanted me to eat breakfast before I leave the house. (She cooked pork steak for me - with rice - so how can I say no that? I missed eating rice for breakfast, too!) The next thing I knew, I'm late and when I read Kla's message after charging my phone, she was already on her way.

Singapore_2017_Day1

To make me even later and despite Chai giving me a map (which she personally sketched for me, by the way) to get to the train station, I still got confused (a little bit) and got lost just a little bit (Okay, maybe a little more than just a bit...). I turned right, instead of left, and the rest was history. Hahaha! Anyway, I arrived at the train station in one piece. (Finally! Huhu. Sorry, Kla! And sorry that I ruined your breakfast surprise treat) I was super excited to see Kla in flesh. I haven't seen her since 2012, I think. That was even before I left for Australia. While we do video calls from time to time, nothing beats seeing your friend in person.

Singapore_2017_Day1

Our first order of business that day: playtime at Universal Studios and Sentosa.

Singapore_2017_Day1

We got off at a station (which I forgot the name!) then switched trains and got off at another station where the cable car going to Sentosa is (Was that Mount Faber? I'm not sure. I wasn't paying attention. We were busy chitchatting. Haha!). I was excited to ride the cable car. I mentioned to Kla, specifically, that I wanted to ride the cable car.

Singapore_2017_Day1

After the cable car ride, we walked going to Universal Studios. We decided to have lunch before we went in. I left all the decision-making when it came to food with Kla. She is a local there so I trust that she would bring me to must-try places that serve really good, authentic food.

Singapore_2017_Day1

She brought me to Malaysian Street Food, a hawker-like place in Sentosa area. Our first meal of the day were Chicken Rice Ball from Malacca, Chicken and Beef Satay from Straits of Satay and Malaysian Bak Kut Teh. I liked the Chicken Rice Ball. The bak kut teh was okay. I think the satay needed a little more flavour.

Singapore_2017_Day1

Then, off we went to Universal Studios. She strategically planned where we would go and which rides we should try. Since she has been there quite a few times, she knows what's good and what's not worth lining up for.

Singapore_2017_Day1

Our first stop was Lights, Camera, Action, which was virtually hosted by Steven Spielberg. We watched how they shoot a hurricane scene in a studio, all complete with the cinematic effects. It was pretty cool.

Singapore_2017_Day1

Next stop was the Waterworld show, which was basically a recreation of some scenes in Waterworld movie.

Singapore_2017_Day1

Then, Revenge of the Mummy ride. Now, this was where the "fun" actually happened.

Singapore_2017_Day1

She said that we should go do that ride. I asked what kind of ride it was. She explained that it was just similar to a horror train. Hey, I was up for the horror train, so we went in. We left all our belongings in a locker, as required. I should have known at this point, right? But I didn't think of anything else about it. We lined up. The ride didn't look suspicious. It looked like I was in really for a horror show because it was dark inside and it was a mummy ride. Then, it was our turn to get on the ride. Initially, it was moving like a horror train. There were mummies on the sides, freaky lights and all that creepy jazz. I was waiting for that scary, me-screaming-until-my-vocal-cords-hurt moment.

Singapore_2017_Day1

Then, it became really dark and then, we were moving fast and backwards, tilting sideways! Apparently, we were on an indoor roller coaster ride! A FREAKIN' ROLLER COASTER RIDE. Yeah, it was really fun. Fun for Kla, to be specific! I was not prepared that we would be riding a roller coaster at that very moment. And I am not good with roller coaster rides! I don't know which one is scarier - roller coaster ride in an open space or in a closed one? I thought we were done because it stopped. I looked at Kla and I was like, "Tapos na ba?? (Are we done?)"

Singapore_2017_Day1

She looked at me, wide-grinned and I knew it wasn't over. All I ever said in return was, "F*ckkk. Humanda ka." There was one more round of that scary sh*t. I mean, I knew there was more because that's how roller coasters work - you think it's over but it's not. Haha! But I was kind of hoping that I was wrong. Then, I looked at Kla again as the ride was about to stop (for real, thank heavens) and said, "Humanda ka sakin paglabas natin. I had tears in my eyes!"

Singapore_2017_Day1

I was half-shocked and half-laughing because she got me. We got out (and I'm alive! Haha!) and from then on, every time she will suggest a ride, I bombarded her with so many questions like, "Is that a roller coaster ride?" or "What kind of ride is it?" or "How is it? Is it going to move backwards, sideways?" or "Are you sure this isn't like the other one?" and more. I was asking her for specific details. Hahaha! I can try riding roller coasters but I have to condition myself. But since she surprised me, instead of waiting for me to be ready, she couldn't convince me to ride the other two roller coasters that she wanted me to try.

Our next ride was the Transformers, which was 3D and really fun.

Singapore_2017_Day1

We headed next to the Jurassic Park ride but, unfortunately, it was closed for maintenance. That would have been a fun ride, too.

Singapore_2017_Day1

Far Far Away was our last stop before heading to Skyline Luge. I just really wanted photos with the castle.

Singapore_2017_Day1

Singapore_2017_Day1

Singapore_2017_Day1

We decided to grab a bite and a bit of rest before heading to Skyline Luge.

Singapore_2017_Day1

She brought me to Toast Box and we had Traditional Kaya toast and Golden Lava french toast. OMG. IT WAS SOOO GOOOD!!! I loved that Golden Lava french toast. It had a perfect contrast - sweet and savoury, gooey on the inside and crisp on the outside - that really worked. It was ah-mah-zing! She taught me how to eat it properly with the soft boiled egg.

Singapore_2017_Day1

She knew I wanted coffee so she explained to me what their coffee menu is: Kopi C, Kopi O and Kopi. If my memory serves me right, Kopi C is coffee with milk. Kopi O is black. Kopi is with evaporated and condensed milk.

Singapore_2017_Day1

After the snack, it was Luge time!!! I was excited for this one, too! I was a bit apprehensive initially because I sucked at bump cars when I was younger... But, after one lap, I was maneuvering like a pro! It was surprisingly pretty basic, really. Then, by the third lap, I was drifting. A guy who works there had to call out my attention because I was driving it too fast. Haha!

Singapore_2017_Day1

Every after lap, we had to ride the Skyride. Apparently, it was my payback time. Kla is better at high and fast rides; I am better at high and slow rides.

Singapore_2017_Day1

Singapore_2017_Day1

For dinner, Kla brought me to Makansutra. Yayyy! This was one of the spots I really looked forward going to. I heard so many good things about this place and I couldn't wait to try the food there. We were only on our first stall and I was eyeing a lot of food already. It was overwhelming! So I let Kla choose which food she really wanted me to try instead. She ordered salted egg prawns, spicy fried squid and stingray. OMG, that meal was one for the books as well. I was obsessed with that salted egg prawns! I love salted egg and I love prawns and if you put them together, it's heaven! I now truly understand their craze for anything with salted egg.

Singapore_2017_Day1
Do not miss this place if you're in SG! It's a crime if you do! Lol!
Luckily, we were able to catch a glimpse of the light show at Marina Bay while having dinner.

Singapore_2017_Day1

And by 11:00 or 11:30 PM, we decided to call it a night and headed home instead.

Singapore_2017_Day1

Singapore_2017_Day1
Seeing her and spending the ENTIRE day with her was the best part of the day.
Singapore_2017_Day1

Thanks, Chai and Kla, for the wonderful first (and a half) day! :)

EDIT (01 April 2018):
I thought of compiling some of the clips that I took during my trip and creating this. I apologize for some shaky clips though. I only recorded these for personal purposes so I didn't see the need to go big with a stabilizer or a monopod because no one else will see it. But as I am spring cleaning (I know, too late for it. Haha!) my files, I watched the clips and I thought, why not? :)

Jana Ticks It Off: Watch Sydney's New Year's Eve Fireworks (and what I learned to do next)

A short clip of the 12-minute fireworks

Even if we watched it far from the maddening crowd, it was still beautiful.

 photo FullSizeRender 2.jpg

We had no 'game plan' for this -- not that you actually need any. Well, maybe just a little bit of planning. It is a public event, though. You need to somehow anticipate possible mishaps and you have to be smart about these things. Personally, the least thing that I want to happen on a good night like this is to be squished in a crowd (which I highly doubt, really, because crowd control here in Sydney is amazing) and to encounter strangers/revellers who tend to cause some trouble or to be scary or crazy weird when they are drunk (When you are a woman and you have lived on your own, you tend to be paranoid about this. It's not you, it's me. Maybe it's just me. Lol!).

 photo FullSizeRender.jpg
Among the few who welcomed 2017 earlier than the rest of the world

So we packed snacks, water bottles, and a beach towel; braved the train ride; went to Yarranabbe Park around 8 PM; and enjoyed the night. Actually, the train ride was better than I expected. Probably because the suggested place (Yarranabbe Park) for us to go to was far from the city and usual vantage points (Thanks to my colleagues who suggested this place and who were also with us that night, along with their families). It was a good, family-friendly spot and not crowded, which was what I wanted. Also, entrance is free. The train ride going to the city and back home wasn't so bad either. Of course, it was stuffy going to the city but it was more than manageable. All thanks to NSW Police and NSW Train authorities (and the people who stood near the train doors and shouted, "Just wait for the next train!" and "No more!" to anyone who still wanted to squeeze in. Haha!)

While waiting for the 9 PM and 12-midnight fireworks, apart from eating and chit-chatting, my brother and I were also people-watching. We took mental note of what we should be doing the next time.

1. Bring and set-up a tent.
A group/family set up a tent not far from where we were seated. It was a bit chilly that night (surprisingly!) and we were there since 8 PM. We thought that having a tent is a good idea so we can sleep inside while waiting. Haha!

2. Or we can just bring blankets or a lightweight jacket/knit.
Because laying under the sky and stars isn't so bad either. And although it is summer in Australia during this time, you can never be too sure. Unless there's heat wave, of course.

3. Bring pillows, too.
Because laying under the sky and stars or inside the tent with a pillow under your head is also a good idea.

4. Bring games.
I was just envious of the couple seated near us who were playing cards while waiting for midnight. No, I did not and will not play games from my phone/tablet or browse social media the entire time. Too boring. I thought of Netflix-ing though but come on, really? No.

5. Maybe buy tickets in advance?
I'll brave the crowd the next time, I suppose. I held off buying NYE tickets for Barangaroo spot for months and when I finally decided to purchase, it was already sold out. It would have been a really good spot though.

Overall, t was a fun experience. And I get to experience it with my brother. As always, Sydney did greet the world a Happy New Year with a gorgeous bang. Gee, I used to only see this on television! :) So if ever you're in Sydney during this time, be sure to experience this. :)

Ending this entry with the complete video of the fireworks.

I hope you all had a peaceful and wonderful celebration. Happy New Year! :)

Granny Hair: A Guide to Gray/Silver Hair

Since I graduated from high school, my hair has always been coloured. After 12 years of studying in Catholic institutions, colouring my hair after high school graduation was like a rite of passage for freedom. I think that was the last time I wore my hair in its natural hair colour? (Or maybe I did once back in college?) Anyway, late last year, I finally had enough courage to try and experiment further with my hair. I've been eyeing this gray/silver hair for a few months already. I was so scared of the idea that my hair would be excessively dry and brittle due to heaps of chemicals that involve the whole process. Or I might go bald due to excessive hair loss! But, I really wanted to do it. So what the heck, let's do this. I mean, there 's always the wig for worst case scenario, right? Haha!

 photo silver_hair7.jpg

I do not consider myself an expert. However, I want to share my entire going gray/silver hair experience and some tips that I learned somewhere along the way. Hence, if you are considering going gray/silver (or even dyeing your hair a shade or two lighter than your hair colour), then read on:

- BEFORE YOUR SALON TRIP -

Ask yourself again.
The mere fact that you have reached this part and reading this sentence means you are really interested in going through this (or maybe you're just plain curious, which is fine, too). So yeah, ask yourself again: Are you willing to risk your hair and go through the whole process and grievances involved with bleaching and dyeing your hair? If yes, then, let's proceed!

Be rigorous and adamant with your research. Go crazy with it.
How does bleaching work? How long does the process take? How is the upkeep? Which salon does it well? How much do these salons charge? Do they have client photos? How do they do it? Going gray/silver involves bleaching the hair. Bleaching will strip out the natural colour from your hair and lifts the outer cuticle of your hair in order for the chemicals to fully penetrate the hair. Due to the process involved, bleached hair leads to dry and brittle hair and makes your hair prone to breakage. If you are going to risk your hair for this fancy and expensive change, you might as well do it properly. There are heaps of salons who does hair bleaching and their difference from each other all boils down to the quality of the finished product. So please, don't just go for the cheapest salon that you can find. Make sure they are doing the whole process spot on.

 photo silver_hair1_1.jpg

At that time, Hairshaft, a multi-branch salon in the Philippines, seemed to be the prominent salon doing the colour that I wanted. They already had a few clients who had their hair bleached to silver/gray so I figured they might be doing their job well. (Let's be clear first before I continue writing - I am not promoting nor am I sponsored by Hairshaft.) I decided to do it in Manila (I had mine done in Hairshaft Robinson's Manila and the hairstylist's name was Fred) because I was flying to Manila for the holidays, anyway, and to have it done here in Sydney was a bit more expensive -- which leads me to my next point.

Prepare the stash.
Having your hair bleached professionally is expensive. Prices vary depending on the salon but it definitely costs more than your usual hair colour. Mine amounted to Php 7,000 (200 AUD, more or less). Maintenance for bleached hair is not only meticulous, but also expensive: keratin treatments, root touch ups and hair products.

 photo silver_hair4_2.jpg
Day 1 of gray hair (and freshly washed!)
If you previously coloured your hair, grow it out as long as possible.
This will help create an even colour and minimise dryness and breakage after the bleach.

Deep condition your hair.
Do this a week or two weeks before your targeted bleach trip to the salon as this will also help minimise dryness and breakage.

- ON THE DAY -

Do not wash your hair before going to the salon.
Your hair's natural oil will help protect scalp against bleaching process.

 photo silver_hair5.jpg
Day 7/8 of gray hair
Patience is a virtue, as they say.
The black-to-granny hair process is a painstakingly looooong one (I had to sit there for 5 hours, more or less, that my brother fell asleep waiting for me to finish). It involves the following:
  1. Bleach - in order for the gray colour to be effective. For my hair (which was dark and thick, as you can see from the photo above), I had to undergo two layers of bleach. It went from dark to orange to blonde, which is the colour needed before applying the gray dye. The whole bleaching process took around 2-2.5 hours to finish.
  2. Tone - to remove the yellow tones caused by the bleach. The toning process took around half an hour.
  3. Dye - the application of gray colour (Yay!). This took another hour or so because the colour had to sit on my hair before rinsing and blowdrying.
Due to the layers of chemicals applied to my hair, my hair scalp was itching (just a bit; bearable) halfway during the whole process (But boy, was I glad for the shampoo sessions in between though!). Luckily, I didn't feel any burning sensation during or even after the process (I read that bleach on a virgin scalp can be painful so it is advised/suggested to massage coconut oil onto your scalp after.). It was also agonising to wait if it will work out just the way I wanted it to or if it will be a complete mess and waste of my time and money instead. Luckily, it worked out pretty damn well. :) *victory dance*

 photo silver_hair6.jpg
2 months after. My hair is mainly blonde by then, with few streaks of silver/gray hair

- AFTERCARE -

Be ultimately ready for maintenance.
This is the tough part. How damaged your hair will be would depend on your natural hair colour and the colour you changed it to. As for my hair, it was a complete 360-degree change: from very dark to very light. Having lighter shades of hair colour requires more than your usual hair care. Of course, you don't want to waste your money if your colour will just fade out easily or turn brassy. BRASSY IS TRASHYYou don't want to go there, my friend. No, you don't.

To keep your gray/silver hair last as long as possible and healthy (This is the part where I made some hits and misses so I added more information that I've read/researched):

     - Purple shampoo and conditioner will be your bestfriend. Why purple? Because if we look at the colour wheel, purple is the opposite of yellow. Hence, to cancel yellow tones on your hair, you need to use purple-coloured hair products. Purple shampoo and conditioner work by preventing the brassy tones in your gray/silver hair thereby, making it more vibrant and maintaining your colour. It was hard to find purple shampoo and conditioner in regular shops in the Philippines (at least during that time).  One of my friends (Hi, Vinch!) introduced me to Funky Streaks, an online shop in the Philippines, where I can purchase a purple shampoo and conditioner. I purchased and tried Clairol Shimmer Lights Purple Shampoo and Purple Conditioner. The 16 oz bottle was worth around Php 1,000 each (almost 30 AUD) but you can get a minimal discount if you buy them together. Right now, I am using Matrix Total Results So Silver Shampoo and Matrix Total Results Hello Blondie Conditioner. I love this product more than Clairol because this is less harsh to my hair and my hair feels waaaay smoother, even if I use the shampoo daily.

 photo DSC00451.jpg

     - Purple shampoo and conditioner don't have to be used everyday or together. If your hair is or if you are aiming for gray/silver all over, leave the shampoo on your hair for 3 to 5 minutes before rinsing. If it is not too brassy, leave it for a minute or two. Moreover, leave the conditioner for another 3 to 5 minutes for extra softness. The purple shampoo and conditioner are meant to be used once or twice a week or whenever you feel like your hair colour lacks vibrancy or is becoming brassy. On the other hand, other people just use the purple shampoo and use a different conditioner. This part is trial and error because how much purple shampoo and/or conditioner you use or how often you use them may depend on the quality of your product, the type of your hair and the level of brassiness you have. As for me, since I was paranoid about my hair having brassy streaks, I have gray/silver hair all over and my hair is very thick, I use the purple shampoo every other day and I use the purple conditioner alternately with hair mask. I also leave the conditioner on my hair a minute or two longer. It's up to you and your hair to experiment on how you want to use these products

 photo silver_hair2.jpg
4 months later and blonde
     - Avoid purple shampoo and conditioner that have purple dyes in it. As mentioned, these purple products are for toning your hair. Go for purple products that will cancel the yellow tones on your hair, not dye your hair purple. So read the label carefully!

     - Use shampoo and conditioner that are sulfate-free, colour-safe/friendly. Sulfate can strip the colour away from your hair so use these for days when you are not using the purple shampoo and conditioner.

     - Use a gray colour-depositing product to add in more colour. Compared to other hair dyes, gray dye, unfortunately, can fade or wash off quickly (as evidenced by my blonde photos above). I read that you should do this every 2-3 weeks. However, I really cannot advise further about this part. I was happy with my blonde locks even after the gray colour washed out from my hair so I didn't bother doing this.

     - Repair the hair. During bleaching, the keratin of your hair is being stripped off by the chemicals hence, keratin treatments aid in putting back the lost protein on your hair to make it healthier and stronger. I also purchased Kerastase Masque Force Architecte from Hairshaft to prevent breakage and brittleness of my hair. Currently, I use Schwarzkopf Essence Ultime Blonde and Bright Neutralising Mask (to refresh hair colour and prevent brassy tone), OGX Argan Oil of Morocco Intense Moisturising Treatment (to soften and strengthen hair) and Schwarzkopf Extra Care Ultimate Repair Mask (to repair heavily damaged hair) alternately. (Update as of 05 May 2017: Olaplex treatment is a fairly new process of repairing damaged hair through the recreation of disulphur bonds (which are broken during hair colouring) in your hair and will give you a healthier and stronger hair thereafter. Read more about Olaplex treatments HERE.)

 photo silver_hair3.jpg
5 months later
     - Condition and nourish. Hair oil and/or hair serum application is also vital, especially with heavily bleached hair. Hair oil aids in conditioning or nourishing your hair to help prevent breakage or split ends due to the chemicals applied on your hair. Hair serum, on the other hand, adds shine and prevents frizzy hair. Currently, I use Naturals by Watsons Argan oil and OGX Healing Plus Vitamin E Penetrating Oil.

     - Avoid the heat/Protect from heat. Do you notice that when it's summer or when you're at the beach, your hair colour tends to become lighter? I've read that heat also affects your bleached hair by making it even lighter and can eventually lead to brassy hair. And as I've said, you don't want brassy hair. It is disgusting. Hence, use heat protectant products before blowdrying or curling your hair; don't stay under the sun for too long and avoid using hot water for rinsing your hair. But if you can avoid them at all cost then, please do so.

     - Root touch-ups. Unless you don't mind an ombre gray hair, root touch-ups every 6-8 weeks help in keeping your colour consistent all throughout.

Be ready for regular cuts as well.
After all the chemicals from the bleach and regardless of the tons of products you use to prevent your hair from excessive dryness and breakage, your hair tips eventually has to go. Our hair tips are the oldest part of our hair and at some point, they just have to be cut off. Even more so when you have bleached hair.

Just work it!
Need I say more?

We all have our respective beauty rituals/commitments that we adhere to. Just like your skin care routine, healthy meal plans and workout schedule, having this kind of high-maintenance hair involves dedication and effort. When gray/silver hair is done well and taken good care of properly, it looks really damn good (Again, Brassy is Trashy. Lol!). It is an instant accessory. So if you're not ready for all of this, do not even do it. It will just be a waste of your time, money and hair. However, should you go through all of these then, I wish you good luck and I hope you enjoy your new hair! :)

And I really hope this post helped you in some way.

(Update as of 27 August 2016)

I finally found a hair salon that I can fully trust here in Sydney. I went to Kaye's Hairstylist Salon, as per my friend's referral, for a haircut and hair colour. I wanted to change my blonde hair colour to red but the hairstylist said that changing my blonde locks into red would be a waste as my blonde colour is still in good condition (So that meant, I took care of my hair properly!) so she suggested to darken it and tweak it with subtle highlights. So now I have a dark blonde with subtle blonde highlights hair colour. Hence, I'm still using the purple shampoo and conditioner. I'm currently using Provoke Touch of Silver Intensive Brightening Shampoo and Conditioner. I find that this brand is not drying to my hair.

The new colour is not obvious yet as the colour will gradually show
I now use both hair oil and hair serum alternately so I can get the benefits of the two without my hair looking too greasy. I tend to use the hair oil when I use the purple shampoo. I'm still using the OGX Healing Plus Vitamin E Penetrating Oil and Marc Daniels Blue Cypress Blonde Repair Serum. This repair serum also has the purple toning capacity, which I like, because it adds extra protection to my hair colour and extra prevention from being brassy. It doesn't make my hair as soft compared to the hair oils. Also, it doesn't make my hair as shiny as it's supposed to be due to the purple toning capacity of the serum.

Then, 8 months later! (from the previous photo) This is how my dark blonde with subtle hightlights looks now.

(Update as of 05 May 2017)

I tried another hair salon here in Sydney. I wanted a trim one Sunday afternoon but Kaye's Hairstylist Salon was closed so I tried Charles and Sherry Hair Salon, which is a few shops away from Kaye's. I was satisfied with my haircut and to date, I've been there twice now. I haven't tried their hair colour service yet as I'm just waiting for the remaining colour to grow out, go commando with my hair and give it a break for the meantime.

A year later from the previous photo. Just growing the remaining colour out, which worked really well with my new short hair. The colour was still great, giving it an ombre look.
I have used Marc Daniels Blue Cypress Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner. I find that this brand is slightly drying to the hair. At the moment, I am using John Freida Sheer Blonde Tone Correcting Shampoo, John Freida Sheer Blonde Color Renew Tone Correcting Conditioner and OGX Argan Oil of Morocco Conditioner. I had my hair cut three weeks ago and I'm growing my dark blonde hair colour out. I still have blonde-ish tips so I'm still using the purple shampoo and conditioner. I am still using OGX Healing Plus Vitamin E Penetrating Oil and Marc Daniels Blue Cypress Blonde Repair Serum as well.
