Ra ra ra, sizboomba!

While heating my food in the microwave, a random thought crossed my mind...

"I am bored."

Not your usual kind of boredom that lounging in the couch, eating sweets and tiring my eyes watching my favorite series can resolve.

Everything seemed monotonous lately. Not that I am complaining. Okay, maybe I am. No, I am aware of how blessed I am and there are more worse problems than what I am feeling. But I just can't help but think, "I am 25, probably at my prime to do something crazy, something passionate, something more fun, something that will actually make more sense and meaning to me. But here I am doing unexciting things instead, pretending that all of this is still fun."

I do not enjoy being in this kind of state. There is no element of excitement. I mean, I appreciate the whole idea of having a 'routine,' of knowing what you are going to do every hour, everyday. But I am a person who prefers having a new and different element in the middle of a routine or every single day of my existence. Same shit, different day -- it is starting to wear me out. Yet again. I clearly know this feeling. This was the same feeling that I felt when I drastically and randomly decided to move to Australia. I am tired but I have almost two more months to endure.

My irrational self is telling me, "Oh f*ck this. Ayoko na."
My rational self is telling me, "Breathe. Patience. This is for you. The bigger picture."

Lord, gusto ko na mag-November. Gusto ko na rin mag-2015.
Pero gusto ko rin mag-birthday muna. :)

She with No Permanent Address

Greetings, earthlings! :)

Ah, how it feels good opening this personal space of mine. It has been quite a while, I know. So, what have I been up to these past two months? Hmm, where shall I begin?

image

Well, to start with, I changed zip codes and moved to Sydney two months ago. So far, I am loving it here! :) I do miss Brisbane though but for now and as of now, this is the place where I should be. Of course, New York is still (Don't judge.) MY place to be but now is not the right time for that. Not yet. We'll get there. One stop at a time. :)

Anyway, going back to Sydney...

First thing I loved in this city? The shops! There are more shops here!!! (But of course, there are more shops in the Philippines! :p) The usual high-end brands are here, which I love going in to just to feel those luxurious fabrics, to look at the details and to make mental notes of 'I'll come back for you when I can afford you already' on certain items. I wish they have Forever21 and H&M here. Or Mango and Stradivarius. You know, stores where I can afford to buy and whose items are fit to my liking. Though there is online shopping, I prefer the classic way of shopping - browsing racks, feeling the fabric, trying on one piece after the other, checking if an item actually suits me. Therefore, I will shop with vengeance when I visit Philippines! :p Don't get me wrong, there are good local Australian brands and designers, too, but I miss going to the stores of brands I usually go to.

So moving on...

Another thing I love in this city is that there are more random and easy places to see and go to even just being in the city. Transportation, timetable-wise, is way better than Brisbane -- at least from my place going to the city, be it by train or bus, and vice versa. Or going to the nearest shopping centers.

Since I moved here, my social calendar was back on track. Most of my university batchmates back in the Philippines who moved to Australia are based here in Sydney so I know more people here. I have been going out more often on weekends, which I totally missed.

It's not that I didn't go out while I was in Brisbane. It was just a bit harder to make plans since my friends and I live far from each other there. Some of them already have their own families and are also working. So most of the time, I spend my time with just one person. (Shoutout to you, Angelique! Ngayon ko lang na-realize kung gaano tayo katagal magkasama lagi: 4-5 days a week for almost a year!

Remember the girl whom I met when I went to Melbourne?

I am also working as a nurse, which I recently got hired for, so I am still on the adjustment period for both, respectively and at the same time. Tiis ganda lang para sa future! Perks at work though: my friend as my workmate and having the best boss so far. Yay!

And can I just say that I don't have any funny story to share unlike my first day in Brisbane? So yay for me! :)

That is how my 'interesting' life have been so far. I can't wait to see more of what this city has to offer. :)

14 Things for 2014

You can probably tell by now that I am a sucker for lists. My planner is filled with everyday to-do lists or a list of things to buy, music to download, places to go to and more. Even at work, I always create a list before I even start my shift. I find enjoyment and a sense of accomplishment every time I tick something off from my list and when I see how much I have done at the end of the day.
Obviously from the title itself, this is another list. A list to start my year right not through an enumeration of resolutions (because I suck at that so I don't bother making it anymore. Took me years to admit that! Haha! Might as well just try my very best to be a good human being in general. Lols.) but through things that I want to do for this year (which is more exciting than the resolutions that I have in mind, e.g. less shopping -- not impossible but we all know that is hard for me so why bother? Haha!)
2014
Anyway, here are my 14 things for 2014 (these are in random order but the bigger photos are definitely the main ones):

1. Learn how to drive
NEVER IN MY 25 YEARS OF EXISTENCE DID I EVER WISH, LET ALONE WANT, TO LEARN HOW TO DRIVE. Until I lived in a place where it is necessary to learn how to do it. *facepalm* WISH ME LUCK, PEOPLE. Haha!

2. Get a driver's license
To make number 1 legit. Let's take it all the way.

3. Sydney trip with my brothers
Hopefully this May or June! :)

4. Finish one book every month
Last year, I thought finishing two books a month is a piece of cake. Of course, if you are not busy studying and working (and falling asleep while doing it and in between), it isn't hard to keep up with that target. Maybe just one book a month would be enough.

5. GO BACK HOME FOR HOLIDAYS.
By hook or by crook!

6. Learn how to create patterns and sew clothes
If I had to choose between wearing clothes or making it, I would honestly and wholeheartedly prefer the latter. I can save more in creating than shopping! If I hadn't left, I would have enrolled in a patternmaking and sewing class. I guess it's time to do that now.

7. Move to Sydney for my Master's Degree
I lodged my application late last year so I'm just waiting for the offer from the university. If I find a good job there during or after studying, I'll stay there most likely. We'll see. Or I might move back to Brisbane after that, who knows.

8. Learn how to make cocktails (and be a self-made bartender perhaps -- why not? Haha.)
It seems fun! Something random to learn. Then I can be my own bartender at my own par-tay (or my friend's party) and make my own combo! :) But hey, I am neither an alcoholic nor a party girl. Let's be clear on that.

9. A in my OET
so I can...

10. Stay for good in Australia

11. Learn basic Spanish
Just because I feel like to. The same way I feel like learning how to make cocktails.

12. Go and fly solo (or probably with a friend) to Singapore

13. Be fit and healthy. (and achieve Nicole-Scherzinger-kind-of-abs. Haha!)
Okay, so maybe the Nicole-Scherzinger-kind-of-abs part may be too much. Probably a little less intense than that as a bonus will be more than enough. Toning and physical health is the ultimate goal.

14. Make use of my Australian RN license
I didn't go all the way here for nothing! :)
There you go, my 14 things for 2014! :) Now, let's get down to business, shall we?
