The Philippine Fashion Week Experience I

Disclaimer: This is not a review of the collections that I have seen.

Menswear

So it's my first attendance at PFW E.VERRRR! :)

Of all the tickets that I got, this show is what I am looking forward more. :) When it comes to construction, men's wear is something complicated and intricate for me. They even have limited choices of clothing items, so I'm always curious as to how men's wear designers will evolve every new season and what would they offer more for men. Kaya nga I watched it even I'm alone. I know, ang lungkot manood mag-isa. Haha!

I gotta say that Filipino men are starting to care about what they wear and I love it! Fashion is not just simply throwing clothes on your body; it is an art, a form of creativity. Hindi rin siya kaartehan kaya ang mga nagsasabi na ang mga mahilig sa fashion ay maarte at vain are either: one, they don't care about how they present themselves; two, their eyes and brain cannot appreciate art.

I chose to be seated at the last row because I was late (what's new?) so no more near-front seats and it is elevated compared to the other rows. I was busy taking pictures (Some of which are blurry or of low quality so forgive me. Hassle din magpicture e! Haha!) and taking mental note of my favorite collection/s and evident trend patterns. I was so inspired to sketch! :)

My favorite collections were from:

Anthony Nocom

His collection were mainly suits. I love the idea that he made his collection all white. It was refreshing to the eyes and the color itself gives an easy, relaxed feel to the clothes.

Bang Pineda

Formal wear meets edgy statement! I love the rings/holes in the sleeves and the marble-like suit! I love the edgy feel! :)

Dodjie Batu

Though not evident with the photo that is shown here, I love the 'fresh and new' way of sleekness that he presented through his collection. You can refer below for the close-up shots of some of my favorite pieces from his collection.

Drei Soriano

I love the leather, the tight pants. Rock and roll with a bang! :)

Frederick Policarpio

This collection reminds me of Chuck Bass -- New York preppy, very polished and sophisticated. Blair Waldorf would have mistaken these models as Chuck. Haha! :) And was that a leather suit?? OMG. Look below for the close up and correct me if I'm wrong.

Jesson Capuchino

I usually don't go for these styles for men but I gotta say that I wouldn't mind if my boy friend or boyfriend  would wear these. I love the red jacket and the shorts, I love the little trinkets/embellishments. I love the way it is eclectic yet wearable.

and Ulysses King. :)
King's collection actually reminded my of my sketches that I submitted to SoFA! :)

I think this collection tops my list of favorites. Or I might probably be biased. Hahaha. Nah. I love anything colorful and it's obvious that this collection showed colors but not to the extent of being too brightly tacky. I love the colored, velvet and seemingly architecture-inspired suits. I love the English feel of the long-sleeved tops. :)

Below are close-up shots of some of my favorite pieces that I saw over Style Bible.

From Bang Pineda
From Dodjie Batu
From Drei Soriano
From Frederick Policarpio
From Ulysses King

I wasn't able to find Jesson Capuchino's close up shots of his collection. :l

So there's my PFW Day 1 experience! :)

And can I just say that I felt so good being surrounded by people who are artistic, creative and fashionably expressive. No eyes staring at me as if I am Lady Gaga inside an egg.

Oh, by the way, check out their advocacy video against human trafficking. :)
