Another film for the hopeless romantics out there! :)
DISCLAIMER: This is not a spoiler. But I might have said anything that can spoil your moment so I ask for your forgiveness. I didn’t mean to. I really did try not to spoil it for you. SO TO BE SURE, JUST WATCH IT IF YOU HAVEN’T. READ ON IF YOU HAVE WATCHED IT ALREADY AND IF YOU’RE REALLY CURIOUS. :)
My cousins lent me the DVD and insisted that I should watch this film. From the cover, I thought it was just another Korean film that is super cheesy and feel-good romantic-comedy. But I was wrong! REALLY WRONG. It was a Thai movie that is just ROMANTIC AT ITS FINEST (Well, that is, at least for me. I don't know about you. Hee.)!!!!!! The story’s simplicity mixed with usual love hitches was too romantic for me that it seemed too good to be true. It’s like partly typical, partly rare and it makes you question if it can really happen outside the silver screen (Of course, that's the hopeless romantic in me who is asking. My mind says no, my heart says yes. Haha.). OH-MY-GAWD!
All the while, I thought it was just a cute love story because the movie started out very funny. My brother even sat down with me to watch because he also found it funny and a friend of his also told him about this movie. The lead girl reminded me of myself back then. I also was a bit dark, wore nerdy glasses (Well, I still do. Haha! I just alternate it with contact lenses though.), and liked boys from a far because 'my level of being pretty' wasn't at par to my peers. It’s more of like watching my old, younger self, the awkward days and giddy puppy love days. My friends can definitely testify to that! Oh gosh, my friends and I were really funny and crazy, weren’t we? With all:
- ‘the moves’ we made to catch our crush’s attention or to just even catch a glimpse of him;
- the secret and stolen glances;
- the anonymous love notes;
- the ways to get our crush’s phone number or picture;
- the first phone call wherein it took a lot of courage to even pick up the phone, nevertheless dial all the digits;
- the dreamy look when daydreaming in class or elsewhere;
- the ‘potions’ we learned from whoever and wherever;
- the beauty regimen we suddenly had because we want our crush to notice us;
- the journal filled with stories of he-glanced-to-me-at-the-canteen or he-borrowed-a-pen-from-me and more.
OH MY!
But of course, the movie’s not all about the happy, cheesy moments. Just like in every love story or everytime we fall in love, there’s heartbreak. One cannot forget their first heartbreak. Actually, one will never forget ALL the heartbreaks they experienced. In as much as the movie made me laugh, the movie made my tears flow in a snap. And continuously. Not that I can relate by having the exact same experience but I sure know how rejection feels, how unrequited love feels, how having ‘The One That Got Away’ feels. So if you had been rejected, had an unrequited love, had someone that 'got away' and you’re going to watch this, I tell you, place some tissue within reach.
As for the highlight of the film? Well, just go check it out for yourself!
It's just amazing that one can really…… And it also got me wondering if……
Yeah my fellow hopeless romantics who have watched it, let out a big sigh and daydream with me. <3
