And I quote Mr. Chris Tiu

The point is not to put our loved ones in danger.  He said that asking "how far can I go with a girl without sinning" can be put more positively into "how far can I go with a girl in protecting her innocence".  Think of it this way. He invited us to think of our future wife who may be dating another guy right now. How far do we want that guy to go with her? It is like Stephen Covey's "thinking with the end in mind", the end here being marriage.  Then he said "girls, do not allow a guy to lift the veil of your body before he lifts the veil in your head--in marriage."

I couldn't help but think of Mel Gibson's the Passion of the Christ when he described how Jesus suffered for us, His Church, His Bride.  He said that that's how much we have to be willing to suffer for our future wife. And part of that sacrifice is to live a chaste life now. We need to free ourselves so that we can love!

He told girls not to fall into the misconception that perhaps if she allows a guy to invade her privacy, he will love her more.  On the contrary, that is the best way for a guy to lessen his respect for a girl.

Boys, especially teenagers, may be incited to get into pornography to show that we are men, indeed.  He turned that around and said that on the contrary, pornography emasculates us--which means, it makes us less of a man because we become slaves of our passions.  Men are those who know how to be strong in the midst of peer pressure.

He also said that addiction to pornography is the best way to shoot your future marriage in the head.

He also touched on modesty, especially in dressing up well, without being provocative.  Modesty does not mean wearing long gowns and old-fashioned clothes. You can look classy without showing too much skin.  The way we dress also shows the respect that we want people to have of us.  He invited us to be "nice" and not "naughty" in the way we dress up so we elicit more respect from the people we meet. Showing too much skin is a sign of desperation, as if you are calling out to guys to look at you.

A very good and touching entry coming from a man. Check out Chris Tiu's blog by clicking on the picture for more. :)

Start the week right! :)

My legs are soooore from all the two-day straight walkathon in the metro!

07 March 2011

Went to NCMH ah-gain. Went to Megamall for NBI renewal -- FAIL! Headed to Powerplant to hangout and windowshop. Talked about our business plans. Ate at Pepper Lunch.

Then Keith's own series of unfortunate events started:
1. We were almost done eating when, boom! His hot leather jacket was slightly ripped! We were both surprised that a part of the leather was torn! Oh, you should have seen him go cuh-ray-zeh!!! Boy, was he mad and upset. Hahaha! So to compensate for that piece of leather that was torn, we went back to that store and bought the red shoes we both adored but actually planned on buying some other time. Hence, the happy mood was baaack! :)
2. As he was expressing his frustration over his jacket, his phone slipped off his hand and hit that hard floor. Thank God the phone was fine and he didn't have to buy something to compensate another loss. Haha!
3. But he almost forgot his phone in the cab as we drop off at Glorietta! Oh heavens! Thank God I saw it as he was about to shut the door close!

Went to Starbucks in 6750 to buy himself a caramel macchiato because he was stressed over his unfortunate events. Hahaha! Then headed to Glorietta next. We shopped for belts. :)

And yes, we camwhored everywhere! Haha!

Whew! What a tiring yet fab day! :) So much for starting the week right eh? :)

08 March 2011

Finally! This long-before plan and overdue bonding finally happened! The last time we saw each other as a group was college graduation, that was like a year and a half, if I'm not mistaken. Too bad, Roxanne wasn't able to come at the last minute. Boo. :( Anyway, we met up at Eastwood and we had a lot of catching up over snack and dinner. Love life, college memories and as usual, our frustrating life as licensed nurses were the hot topic of the night. We talked and talked as if a year didn't pass by. We laughed a lot, all because of Kla. She was the target of our sarcasm and jokes as always. Hahaha! Oh, how I missed these girls soooo much!!! :) Looking forward to our next get-together! :) And hopefully by that time, we all have jobs already!!! Haha! :)

Two days straight with friends -- I don't mind having sore legs, actually. :)

Portfolio progress. :)

I've already talked about this on my former entries a couple of times. A friend of mine, who is sort of my 'mentor' as well, saw my latest sketches and he complimented it in general, saying that I improved! Hee. :) And I just want to share it. See the 'improvement' that he was talking about for yourself. :)

NOTE: I'm a noob and my fashion illustration knowledge and skill are a crash course product of internet search-and-read/watch so don't expect fabulous sketches, okay? :)

This was my very first 'formal' attempt. 'Formal' means having it sketched on a sketchpad and not on a piece of scratch, learned what croquis is and the basic steps on how to do it. At this time, applying for the scholarship wasn't on my mind yet. I just wanted to learn how to draw...

But then the scholarship idea came up which required me to submit a portfolio so I'm forced to learn fashion illustration now and fast and be good in it (Good luck with that. Haha.)! Here's my second attempt in sketching...

My friend commented on those and gave me tips so I sketched another set and applied his tips. Here's the third attempt...

So what do you think? Did I really improve? :)

He reviewed my sketches just last night and told me to improve on the body contour and that I should emphasize the breast of the female, which I actually happen to forgot. Haha! To think I'm even a girl! Well, say hello to my fourth attempt! I hope it'll be all perfect this time. I'll show it here again once it's done. :)

Anyway, I also started drawing flats, which I thought would be no sweat but boy, was I wrong! It was te-di-ous!!! Flats should show everything, the stitches, the drapes, the buttons, all the itsy bitsy tiny details. The ones you see below, I made them for almost 6 hours! Yes, six long hours! I kept redoing it because I like the outlines to be very clean. You know how I get OCD at times. I drew them by hand instead of CAD because I have no idea how CAD works and I'll save learning and using that for later on. Haha!

Oh, will I be able to finish them all just in time? I still have to color my sketches, to make the inspiration board that I plan to include in my portfolio, to learn how to perfectly draw folds, drapes, etc. Aaaaack! Jana, keep it moving, KEEP IT MOVING!!!! And I imagine Tim Gunn standing beside me and telling me, "Make it work." Haha!

Oh crap! It's already almost 5 AM in my clock! Yes, weirdly as it seems, I'm still up yet not sleepy. I haven't been up until at this time since college?? I should really hit the sacks.  Tomorrow is another day with my paper and pencil. :) Good morning world! :)

*And one more thing, forgive my snapshots. It was just random that I didn't bother to take the shots appropriately. Haha. :)*

Bon Voyage?

Photo: Photobucket, Quote: twitter.com/ihatequotes

Upon knowing that you are leaving, I was saddened by the fact. Surprisingly. I don't know why. I guess maybe even I  have already let you go, a part of me still cares and a part of me is still hoping that one day you'll talk to me again.

And sometimes, I wonder randomly how things would be now if what happened between us didn't happen...
We may not end the way I dreamed it to be but I believe we could have been very, very, very good friends...
Oh well.
Anyway, I wish you good luck! :)

Young adult life.

Sometimes, it is just hard and frustrating. You can't make people listen and understand. But that doesn't mean you should give up. You just have to compromise to make it work. For you and them. And to just close the issue.  Wheeeew.

Okay, that has got nothing to do with the picture. It's me and Keith on a one fine random day, hanging out and talking about our lives... Oh, young adult life. Tough! :l
