the golden 300's not yet done (baccalureate and pinning ceremony)

27 march 2009 (from my multiply)

FOUR years of:

studying; sleep-deprived nights; hiding the ever-growing eyebags; late-night dates with potter and perry, kozier, lemone, black, brunner, maglaya, lippincott, porth, shives, etc; keeping up with the demands of the course; struggle and stress; spurs and blurs; friendship and camaraderie; laughs and tears; almost everyday fatigue and minimal social life, mastering the art of time management and sleeping anywhere, completing and passing the 161 or 198 units (i'm not sure how to compute e)

THREE years of:
completing 1887 hours of RLE; sunbathing and walka-thon in community;

TWO years of:
duty; making and submitting sensible and almost complete NCP's and Gordon's, drug analysis and pathophysiology; keeping up with the clinical instructors; making and almost mastering the SOAPIE;

(and oh, let's not forget that historical oral revalida...)

then, it was all summed up and concluded into 3 events, this one's a first.

this ceremony is our pinning ceremony, also known as clinical graduation. this is to commemorate and recognize the four years of hardship and toil entailed in our chosen course. honestly, i was not as excited or as overwhelmed as other graduates nor was i even excited for the event itself! well, maybe a little. because though i know i will be and am graduating, it is not an enough basis for me and for the whole world to affirm that i reached the end. yes, i got my pin. that's a first thing.

as i've said earlier, this event is just the first. the next is my academic graduation and the last but totally not the least is my nursing licensure examination scheduled on june 7 and 8. so i have two more things left to get - my diploma and my license. whew.

OASIS 2009 started with 415 fresh from high school, totoy- and nene-looking students then going down to 405... to 388... to 372... to 348... then finally, down to 330. the magic number 330. the golden 330.

i wouldn't be student 259 (hopefully this is not my rank. hahaha.) of the batch if it weren't for some people who were with me in those four years. let's drop names shall we?

first, i thank God for always being there for me, to make me strong and to hold on, for giving me wisdom and knowledge that i needed and for EVERYTHING.

second, i thank my parents, my tito joseph, and my family for the unending support, for the love and money (of course! how will i even get to college kung wala yon?? haha.), for the advices and for just not stressing
and pressuring me too too too much.

third, i thank myself (HAHAHAHA!) for having the endurance and strength to go on, for having gathered enough knowledge and skills to survive, for being so PR, for being industrious (not all the time though!), for being GREAT.

fourth, i thank my friends and groupmates and classmates (kilala niyo na kung sino kayo. masyado kayo madami. oo, kasama ka din kahit inaway-away mo pa ako dati o kahit na inaway pa kita dati. hahaha.) for being with me through that tough 4 years, for boosting my confidence and myself when i just want to quit, for motivating me, for laughing and eating with me, for being mean with me, for just being there with me to make the most
out of every situation - may bagsak, kabado, babagsak, mababa, inaantok, bad trip na, pumasa, mataas ang grade, everything.

fifth, thanks to sir jesson butcon (our one and only batch adviser), all my professors, my clinical instructors, sa lahat nang nagpahirap at nagpasa sa akin. kung wala kayo, wala rin sana akong alam, for not leaving us behind, for helping and supporting us, and i wouldn't be confident enough to pass my boards (pero kulang pa din as of now... more refresher and review paaa!).

and lastly, to my alma mater, UERM, i admit, this school was never part of my plan. but then, i will admit now that i am proud that i graduated here. we may suck in uaap, we may not appear as grandiose as ateneo or dlsu, we may not be a catholic university like ust, we may not be the best in other courses but medical future here is one of the best, no, SUPER BEST. hahaha! kahit palpak sa office madalas, kahit ang gulo nila madalas, kahit pasaway kami, kahit ang bagal nila, hinasa lang naman nila yung pagiging reklamadora at pasensya naming lahat. hahahaha!

and i may not be the class valedictorian.
nor the clinical excellence awardee.
nor the community service awardee.
nor the cum laude.
but that does not take the fact that i am proud of myself.
and of my batchmates and friends as well. :)

school may be over but our schoolbooks will still be opened as ever.
pressure and stress gets higher as days get nearer to june.
our brain cells need much more energy.
the heavens will be rocked again, true.

one oasis. one batch. one hundred percent.
there's no other number but ONE.
amen! :)

WILL YOU BE PART OF THIS HISTORY?

I OWE MY PRESENCE TO MY NINONG. :)
2 tickets as his graduation gift for me. :)

my cousin and i (i invited my bestfriend to tag along. swerte mo, loko ka! hahaha.) watched the concert. we arrived 15 minutes earlier before the show started. di kasi nila ako ginising! i fell asleep while waiting for the driver to come. kung hindi ko pa naramdaman na tumulo na laway ko (yikes, i didn't just say that?!), di pa ako magigising! last clock check: 3:30, i woke up at 5:50! OMG! so i changed immediately, fixed myself and packed some essentials. too bad, my cellphone battery died so mejo nagkagulo kami ng bestfriend ko. dadaanan namin siya dapat but before we left he called to say wag na daw then di na niya ako ma-contact. so on our way, i used my cousin's phone and i found out na he changed mind pala! he'd been calling me the whole time before i inserted my sim card in my cousin's phone. ayan, he arrived late kasi SUPERRR TRAFFIC. hirap ng parking, we just went out of the car and ran! yes, WE RAN! mejo late na kmi pumasok inside kasi nga we were waiting for him e dahil SUPERRR EXCITED na kami ng cousin ko, we went inside already. texted him to text us kung nasa labas na siya ng SILVER area so i can give his ticket to him. went out after the first song, magasin. then parang someone called me when i was looking around, looking for my bestfriend, pero deadma lang ako kasi what if hindi pala ako, effort pa ako and i doubt na sa sobrang dami ng tao e may mapapansin pa ako na kakilala dun.

GRABEEE, sobrang jam-packed! sobrang daming tao sa loob! because we were late, though we tried to position ourselves in the middle, wala talaga. suuupperrr sikip na! so sa medyo sides na lang kami, in front of the barricade between the silver and gold. eto pa ang mas nakakaasar, there were food stalls, courtesy of SMART yung mga tents nila. AT NAKAHARANG SILA SA VIEW NAMIN!!! asarrr. people were really mad because ang STUPID ng set-up nila, ilagay daw ba sa harapan namin?! they could have placed it sa sides, near the portalets! ASARRR. struggle kami ng cousin ko to see the band and to take pictures! grrr.

BUT THE BEST PART?
i heard ely sing LIVE! gosssh.
3/4 of the show, i was able to see half of his body! hahaha! ACHIEVEMENT!

AND THE BESSSSTEST PART?!
just when we thought the concert ended already, we sifted our way through the middle slowly while people are moving their way out. so we were in the middle already, taking shots of the stage that was depirved of us earlier in the show. and next thing we know, someone on stage spoke asking if we want more! so we were like, "YES! pero sino yun??" it seemed like a joke but then the lights were turned on again! i can't actually remember who was speaking e, kasi i was ecstatic again kasi nagkataon na we were in the middle as in direct view! OMGGGGG! so jump-jump mode kami ng cousin ko kasi nga WINNER kami! hahaha! then ayun nga, sabi "tawagin nyo muna si ely and *i forgot the name!*" he repeated that statement for like, 5 times? then people were starting to come inside again! as in naipit na kami kasi nga kami yung nasa bandang gitna! so ayun na, lumabas na si ELY MY LAAABBB, then they started playing so people got crazy again! muntik na talaga kami madaganan! then a lady beside my bestfriend asked if they can crossover the GOLD area and the event security agreed so OMG! mas lalo kami nadaganan! i had been wanting to crossover first half of the show pa lang and that was my chance but my cousin was sooo scared kasi daw baka mahuli kami. sabi ko, "hindi yan. pumayag na sila o! okay lang yan. nandiyan si tito, may pang-pyansa kayo sakin kasi hindi na ako minor, ikaw minor ka pa." tapos yung mga tao sa paligid namin e super gusto na kami daganan so pumayag na rin cousin ko. struggle pa akyatin yung barricade kasi madulas at mataas siya. ilang beses nag-slide yung feet ng cousin ko but eventually we were able to cross!!! WOOOT!!!

grabe, ecstatic pa rin kami after that. todo kwento kami when we met my tito afterwards, hanggang sa pag-uwi at pagtulog namin. hahaha!

definitely it was one of the best nights of my life!!! :) it was super memorable, the event itself - final set ng Eheads, tribute to francis m, being part of the 100,000 privileged people... it was one big and grand final set! todo e, parang past 12 na nga kami natapos? super thanks sa tito ko and to my cousin and bestfriend for tagging along! :)

NOTE: 2 days after the concert, TJ SULQUIANO called me sa hallway:
"Hoy jana! tinatawag kita nung sabado, hindi ka lumilingon!"
"huh? sabado?"
"nung Eheads concert! papapasukin sana kita sa gold pero hindi mo ko pinapansin! tawag ako ng tawag sayo! sayang. ako yung nakabantay dun sa gold area e."
"WHAAAATTTT?! bat di mo ko kinalabit or something?!"

talk about SAYAAAANNNNGGG! argh. oh well. hahaha. i still saw ely my lab. hahaha!
