Updates!

I'M BAAAAACK!!!!!

Sorry for the unannounced hiatus! Well, there isn't much going on but there has been adjustments made -- work-related, that is. With these little adjustments, I wasn't able to update my blog in as much as I would want to. Given that there is a two-day weekend extension for me (non-working holiday), I am now able to update my blog. Yay! Hee. So here's what has been happening to me lately:

As I've said earlier, since I started work, I've been adjusting to a new time schedule and body clock. I had been used to sleeping late/whenever time I want to sleep. I had been used to being unaware or seemingly oblivious to time. But now, I work from 9 am to 5 pm and I feel either tired or sleepy when I get home or early in the night. So instead of blogging, I just go to sleep. There are nights that I even fell asleep while watching TV. Haha!

Work's okay, so far. There are days that are good, some are boring and some are shocking. Hahaha! For 5 consecutive weekends, all I ever did was shop with my family. I bought 3 shoes for this month alone (plus another one pair given by my aunt), 2 of which I charged to my mom's card (I already have the guts to charge my shopping payments to her because I now have the ability to pay her back. Haha!). I also bought a pair of jeans for myself, two more pairs for my brother and a watch for my mom. Of course, I also bought more craft materials for my business. :) As a remembrance of my first salary, I bought myself a watch as well! I actually got the idea of buying a watch through my bestfriend. I think he mentioned once, before we even started working, that he wanted to buy a watch once he gets his first salary ever (I don't think he stuck to his words by the way. Haha!). I thought of other things to buy but a watch seemed more lasting. It will always be a fad, it won't wore out, it can be fixed as good as new and you can pass it on to your child or whoever as a heirloom. By far, I think it's the most expensive thing I ever bought for myself.

I really wanted a gold, men's-looking watch and I finally found the perfect one with the perfect size and style for me! :) It's classic with a little bit of edge because of the spider-like design and the white background in the middle.

Another thing that keeps me busy on nights that I am less sleepier or on weekends is what I mentioned earlier, my new business venture (which I will talk further in future posts). I'll be launching the store hopefully by first week of September. :)

So that's what has been happening to me lately! Will post further updates and random posts soon, once I get used to this time management and body clock thing. :)

A night of many Firsts

List of Firsts:

1. What's another best way to celebrate a girl's transition to womanhood? GO TO A BAR. (It's my cousin's first time.)

Below, from L-R: The DJ (uncle's friend), his wife, my aunt, my uncle, aunt's brother

2. Normally, you would go to a bar and party with your friends. Why not GO WITH YOUR PARENTS for a change? (It's our first time to have chaperons -- her parents. Their idea as well. :D)

3. You would be dancing the night or morning away so you would wear shoes that are more comfortable, something flat. On a second thought, you would WEAR SHOES THAT GIVE EXTRA HEIGHT because you want to look head-to-toe hot. (In my case, I've learned how painful heels are when dancing. I even said I won't wear heels when going to a bar EVER AGAIN. But I still did and I prepared myself to suck it up. However, to my surprise, my feet weren't in pain at all. Even hers! Just tired, definitely. Yeah, this is how we look at 4 in the morning. Crappy, right? LOL!)

4. If you can't take the crowded dance floor, GO AND STAND BESIDE THE DJ! (Well, in our case, my uncle knows the DJ so we were able to really stand beside the DJ for a few minutes.)

5. Since you are with your parents, FINISH PARTYING UNTIL CLOSING. (It was our first time to get home at 4:15 in the morning -- and to even leave the house at 11 pm.)

OH WHAT A NIGHT! (We were asleep almost the whole morning and afternoon.) Belated happy 18th birthday Kristel! :)

On the right time and at the right places.

I've been on work orientation for five days now and it wasn't until today that

1. I finally heard what I want to hear;
2. I surprisingly learned that I got two positions and
3. I heard straight from my mom's lips and in her own words that my fashion school enrollment deal with her is on. REALLY ON. :D

Anyway, let's backtrack a bit shall we?

First working day of this week, the Project Director texted me to come to the office at 1:00 in the afternoon. I thought it was going to be my interview with the Executive Director. When I was called back for that scheduled interview with her almost two weeks prior, I was still on my extended stay at the province after Lolo's funeral. I wasn't able to re-book my flight to come back for the interview. When I got to the office, I was asked to wait in the board room. Almost 30 minutes had passed when the PD and another applicant arrived. I thought there was going to be a meeting and we would have to sit there and listen or wait for the ED to interview me. But no! It was an orientation for work already and there were only two of us as the newly hired staff. I still refused to believe that I already got the job because I haven't signed a contract yet before they even oriented us. To add more to that uncertainty, before I left the office that day, I asked the PD when will the ED be interviewing me. He told me that probably it would be on the next day since they are still considering me for another position! OMG! I told him that I still prefer to be a Patient Navigator than do administrative work.

Next day came and no interview happened. On the third day, we were brought to Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center as our first exposure and observation at field. I panicked a bit since I swore that I will never go back to that place again! I knew that our Oncology clinic is on a different building but still, I don't want to be seen by people that are working there whom I met back from my training last year. I texted my mom about it and she told me to just shrug it off, do what they'll ask me to do and enjoy the rest of my day. So that's what I did. I listened and observed how our 'seniors' are doing their job. They taught us what their responsibilities are, their standard protocols, and more. The day was productive and I didn't see anyone I didn't want/I would be awkward to see, thank God. :) At the end of the day, I think I said to myself that if ever I would be assigned there, it would be just fine because the work ambiance in that building is less stressful, more peaceful and people are nicer. Hahaha.

On the fourth and fifth day, some staff from a Breast Cancer foundation in East Avenue Medical Center that we are in tie-up with joined us in our orientation.

This afternoon I was told that they might put me in Philippine General Hospital once they settled matters with the hospital and the cancer patients that will be enrolled in our program increases. I have to report to the office for the meantime, starting on Monday, as a Research Assistant. So there, I got two positions under my name! :) I told my mom about it when I got home and asked her about our deal. Of course, she didn't forget. I want her to enroll me now but I only have 14 days to inquire if they have weekend classes, to re-apply and create a new portfolio to submit so I don't think I'll make it on time for SoFA's second term. Unless they accept late applicants, which I doubt. Plus, I'm still adjusting on my job. I will probably start first with the business that I am planning of before I go to school again. :) I don't know, we'll see... Still, wait up for my 'business plan materialization!' :D

Earlier this year, I quoted Wiz Khalifa on my Twitter and Facebook account that "everything I do, I do it big." :) Thank you Lord! Everything was worth the wait. My ultimate vacation has finally come to an end. And with a bang (The concerts were the unplanned and fitting finale after all). Haha! :) I'M THE HAPPIEST GIRL EVERRR!
